Swedish culture has strong ties with its Scandinavian neighbors. It is one of the most forward-thinking countries in the world in terms of tolerance and acceptance policies. The official language is Swedish. The legal system is the civil law based on Roman-Germanic and the customary law. The government type is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy. The official currency of the nation is the Swedish krona (SEK) with the current exchange rate being SEK 8.4 to the USD. The country has a modern market economy, generating a GDP of approximately $563 billion, making it the 11th largest economy in Europe. Its citizens have a per capita income of $52,477. The GDP is mostly made up of services and the industry sector. Its main goods of export are steel, precision equipment, paper, motor vehicles, barley, wheat and sugar beets. The Swedish economy experiences moderate growth of about 3% per year.
