Applications for a Chinese visa can only be submitted through official Visa Application Centers (VAC), and may be submitted in person by the applicant or through an agent. However, applicants may be required to appear in person at the VAC for an interview.
Visit the China Online Visa Application official website, select your language, and the country and city where you intend to submit your visa application. Applicants from certain countries may be redirected to the VAC website for visa application. If your country is not listed in the options, contact the nearest Chinese embassy for information on how to apply.
Copy the application ID and fill out the form in either Chinese or English. Submit the completed application form online and print it.
After completing and submitting the form, applicants will be redirected to a link where they can book an appointment for Chinese visa application.

Submit your passport, application form, and other supporting documents to the VAC, Consulate or Embassy. Answer questions clearly, if there are any.
Take the collection slip which indicates your case number and collection date of your visa.
Check if payment is to be made during submission of visa application or upon collection of the visa as procedures may vary.
Note: Online/fax/mail-in applications are NOT accepted. Some applicants may be required to appear in person at the Chinese consulate or embassy for an interview.
The cost of a standard visitor visa is $30 for a single entry. However, the visa fee may vary according to the number of entries and the nationality of the applicant. Additional fees might apply for rush visa processing.
Applicants are advised to submit their visa applications a month before their intended departure date.

The passport and visa can be collected by anyone in possession of the original collection slip on the date or a later date written on the slip, unless otherwise informed by the VAC.
