Mexico Tourist Visa Validity

A Mexico tourist visa is a document issued to eligible applicants who are traveling to Mexico for sightseeing, engaging in cultural events or outdoor adventures, and other tourism activities. The Mexico tourist visa is issued for a validity period of 180 days.

Mexico Tourist Visa Requirements

All applicants must submit the following documents to apply for a Mexico tourist visa:

Valid passport

  • The applicant should hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from their date of arrival in Mexico. 
  • It’s advised that applicants make photocopies of the photo page and any previous visas.

Complete application form

  • Application forms must be completed accurately and entirely. They should be printed and signed to include with the other application materials. 
  • Applicants under 18 should have their application form signed by a parent or guardian.

Complete Multiple Migratory Form (FMM)

Applicants should complete the FMM online before arriving in Mexico.

Recent photograph

Photographs must be passport-sized (3.5 x 4.5 cm), in color, and shot with a white background. Applicants must leave their faces uncovered. Photos must be taken within the last 6 months.

Proof of employment/studies

Applicants should submit a letter that proves they are engaging in stable employment or studies in their country of residence.

Proof of financial subsistence

Applicants must show they can support themselves financially for the duration of their travels in Mexico. This could be in the form of bank statements or work payment receipts.

Proof of residency

This might include a photocopy of a resident card or other proof of legal residency in the country where the applicant is applying.

Personal letter to Mexican Consulate

Applicants must include a letter clearly stating the purpose of their visit, the desired length of stay in the country, the intended date of entry into Mexico, and their travel itinerary.

Valid payment for visa fees

The payment method will vary depending on the location of the embassy or consulate where the application is being submitted.   

Mexico Visa Application Steps

To apply for a Mexico tourist visa, the application process is very straightforward. Additional steps may apply depending on the applicant’s nationality and the complexity of their case. 

However, most applicants will take the following steps to complete their application:

The Mexico tourist visa will cost 51 USD for each applicant. This fee must be paid at the embassy or consulate after submitting the visa application. Accepted methods of payment may vary depending on where the applicant submits their application.

Where to Apply

Visa applications can be submitted at the nearest Mexican embassy or consulate in the applicant’s country of residence. The only exception is citizens from Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine who are eligible to apply for an electronic visa (SAE) online before traveling to Mexico.
