The Mexican passport is currently ranked 22nd place on the Guide Passport Index. It provides visa-free access to 160 countries. This grants it an overall high mobility score and makes it a desirable passport. Mexican passport holders have visa-free access and visas on arrival to countries such as Singapore, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and the entire European Union. This allows almost instant travel opportunities worldwide. Mexican passport holders do however require a visa to enter about 69 destinations. Some countries where a visa is required are Taiwan, the United States and Australia.

Mexico passport ranks 22 in the world. Mexico passport holders can enter a total of 160 destinations – either without a visa, through a visa on arrival, or via an eTA.

The Mexico passport ranking relative to other global passports is calculated by adding up the number of countries that allow Mexico passport holders to enter without a visa (i.e. visa-free countries) and those that allow Mexico passport holders to enter by obtaining a visa on arrival (i.e. visa-on-arrival countries) or electronic travel authorization (eTA). There are currently a total of 120 Mexico passport visa-free countries, 35 Mexico visa-on-arrival countries, and 5 eTA destinations.

Separate from these Mexico visa-free countries and visa-on-arrival countries, there are 69 additional destinations in which Mexico passport holders either need a physical visa to enter or an eVisa (i.e. visa required countries).

The country has an open economy, generating a GDP of approximately $2.7 trillion, making it the 11th largest economy in the world. Its citizens have a per capita income of $21,362. The GDP is mostly made up of the services and industry sectors. Mexico puts a big emphasis on the manufacturing industry, especially with its biggest trading partner, the United States. Other major export goods are electronics, auto parts, oil, fruits, vegetables, and coffee. The nation is the world’s largest silver producer.

Mexico is filled with a variety of urban and natural tourist attractions. That is why it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It is known for its vast beaches and nature. Some of the major destinations include Teotihuacan, Chichen Itza, Tulum, Copper Canyon, Palenque, Cozumel, and the capital Mexico City. The main tourist activities are fishing, sightseeing, diving, watersports and hiking. The island nation has a total of approximately 45 million tourists visiting every year with the majority originating from North America and Europe.
