CBI Program in Dominica suspends processing applications from Yemeni nationals

The Government of Dominica has announced the suspension of processing new Citizenship by Investment applications from Yemeni nationals, effective January 19, 2024.

The Dominica Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU) indicated that this decision aims to protect the global community and uphold the standards of Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Program.

Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Program is one of the Caribbean’s investment-based citizenship schemes, offering foreign applicants a pathway to obtain a second citizenship. This is achieved through financial contributions to Dominica’s economy, either by donation or through real estate investment.

It is also pertinent to note that the current ban on submitting applications for Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Program includes nationals from specific regions of Northern Iraq, especially the Kurdistan Region, which includes the cities of Erbil, Amedi, Dahuk, Kirkuk, Lalish, Raniya, Soran, Sulaymaniyah, and Zakho. This expansion of the ban also applies to nationals of Russia and Belarus. Additionally, Sudanese and North Korean citizens are not permitted to apply to the program unless they meet certain criteria, including residing outside their home country for over 10 years, not owning substantial assets in their native countries, and refraining from engaging in business or trade activities in or with these nations.
