Kazakhstan and Morocco Announce Visa-Free Travel for Citizens
On 13 February 2025, the Kazakh government announced that a new visa exemption agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco would officially come into effect within 30 days. This agreement aims to make short-term travel easier for eligible citizens and boost tourism between the countries.
The visa exemption agreement:
- Applies to citizens of both Kazakhstan and Morocco.
- Can be used by holders of national and ordinary passports.
- Allows visa-free travel for tourism in both Kazakhstan and Morocco.
- Allows stays of up to 30 days within a 180-day period.
Travelers must make sure their passport is valid for at least 3 months to successfully apply for the visa exemption. Travelers looking to visit either country for purposes of business or study for longer than 30 days must apply for the relevant visa instead.
Representatives of each government first announced and signed the visa exemption agreement in New York in September 2024. The agreement will cover entry, exit, transit, and temporary stay for tourists.
In a statement announcing that the agreement had come into effect, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reiterated that the new agreement will “strengthen friendly relations and develop cooperation between the two states in the field of tourism.”
