China to Launch Online Visa Application Process for Libyan Citizens
The Chinese Embassy has confirmed that from 17 March 2025, eligible Libyan citizens will be able to apply for a Chinese travel visa online. The announcement follows recent changes made by the Libyan Chinese Chamber for Economic Cooperation to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.
Allowing Libyan citizens to apply for a Chinese visa online will streamline the process and facilitate travel. It is hoped that online applications will encourage more Libyan businesspeople to engage with China.
A representative of the Libyan Chinese Chamber for Economic Cooperation stated that these changes are ‘a positive step towards supporting Libyan businessmen and traders in their dealings with the Chinese market.’
Currently, China and Libya have no visa exemption agreement, so Libyan travelers must obtain a visa for any type of visit, including tourism and business.
This development aligns with Libya’s recent efforts to boost trade and tourism, including plans to introduce an e-visa program for foreign visitors.
