British National (Overseas) Passport Holders Do Not Need an ETA or a Visa To Visit the UK
As per the latest update, British National (Overseas) passport holders do not need an electronic travel authorization (ETA) or a visa to visit the UK.
British National (Overseas) passport holders were previously required to apply for an ETA to enter or transit through the UK.
Seema Malhotra, Minister of Migration and Citizenship, said in a letter on March 3, 2025, to David Alton, a member of the House of Lords, “This decision has been made on the basis of the close ties that the BN(O) community has with the UK, the historical commitments made to them and, critically, the fact that just like for British citizens with passports, it is the UK issuing their travel documents.”
