Cypriot Citizens to Travel Visa-Free to the US Before Easter
Cyprus nationals are set to enjoy visa-free travel to the US soon with arrangements for entry into the visa waiver program in its last stages.
A special team from the US Department of State and Congress will be visiting Cyprus in the coming weeks to carry out some final procedures before giving their approval.
In anticipation of their arrival, the Cypriot authorities have already prepared all the necessary legislative work, and crucial agreements with the US have been signed and ratified by Cyprus’ parliament.
Once Cyprus is officially included in the Visa Waiver Program, Cyprus nationals will be able to travel to the US for business or tourism purposes without needing to apply for a B-1/B-2 visitor visa.
Instead, Cypriot nationals will only need to apply for the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), which is a simple online application that pre-screens visitors.
The ESTA is hassle-free to apply for and has a validity period of two years. It also permits multiple entries into the US during that period.
The entry into the Visa Waiver Program means that Cypriots will not need to undergo the lengthy visa application process for 90-day stays in the US. The process will be quicker and more streamlined, easing travel for Cypriots into the US.
