EU Introduces Mobile App For Non-EU Travellers
The European Union has introduced a mobile application designed to simplify border entry for non-EU travellers ahead of the full rollout of its Entry/Exit System (EES).
The app, called “Travel to Europe,” allows eligible individuals to pre-register personal information before arriving at designated border crossing points.
The move comes as part of the gradual implementation of the EES, which became operational on October 12, 2025. Full adoption across all external Schengen borders is expected by April 10, 2026. The system aims to modernize border checks by digitally recording the entry and exit of non-EU nationals visiting the EU for short stays.
The “Travel to Europe” app allows non-EU travellers with biometric passports to pre-submit their passport data, facial image, and travel details. Users can also complete the EES entry questionnaire in advance. The pre-registration can be done within 72 hours before entering or exiting the European Union through an EES-participating country.
Officials clarified that using the app does not replace border control procedures. However, it is expected to reduce wait times and increase efficiency at checkpoints by preparing travellers in advance.
As of its launch, the app is only supported in Sweden. Other participating EU countries are expected to enable support gradually, with available features potentially varying by country.
