What We Know About the New Unified GCC Tourist Visa
Travel across the Gulf region may soon become much easier as a new single-entry visa covering all six GCC countries moves closer to implementation.
Known as the GCC Grand Tours Visa, this unified system aims to simplify travel for non-GCC nationals who want to explore the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman with just one visa.
The visa framework was approved in 2023 and has now entered the final stages of development. Officials have not confirmed an exact launch date. However, regional reports suggest the rollout is likely to happen before the end of 2025.
For residents in the UAE and other Gulf nations, especially expatriates, this update could reduce both the cost and complexity of regional travel. The visa would allow applicants to plan multi-country trips without needing to apply separately for each nation.
Early details suggest the visa will be available through an online portal and could allow stays ranging from 30 to 90 days. Applicants may have the option to choose either access to a single country or all six GCC states. It is expected to cover tourism and family visits.
Documents likely required:
- A passport that remains valid for at least six more months
- An application form completed online
- Recent passport-size photo
- Proof of accommodation, such as a hotel reservation or an invitation from a host
- Travel insurance that includes medical coverage
- Financial proof, like recent bank statements
- A return ticket or proof of onward travel
How to apply once launched:
- Visit the official visa website (yet to be announced)
- Choose visa type – one-country or multi-country access
- Fill in travel details and upload the required documents
- Make an online secure payment for the application fees
- Receive the e-visa via an email notification
- Print or keep a digital copy for immigration checks
The GCC Grand Tours Visa is part of a broader regional plan to boost tourism, grow airline traffic, and support hospitality and retail sectors. Officials believe the initiative will ease cross-border movement and encourage deeper cultural exchange and collaboration between member states.
While visa-on-arrival is not expected to be part of this system at launch, travelers are advised to complete all steps before booking their trip. Further details, including the official website and fees, are expected to be announced soon.
