Visa-Free Air Travel Announced Between Iran and Tajikistan
From February 3, 2025 (15th Bahman 1403), a new policy will be implemented allowing eligible citizens to travel by air between the two countries without a visa.
Under the new policy, citizens of Tajikistan and Iran with valid passports can travel visa-free between Tehran and Dushanbe. Travelers will be able to stay in the destination country for a maximum of 30 days within a 90-day period.
The policy was announced by the Iranian Embassy in Tajikistan and follows the announcement of extensive plans to strengthen tourism, trade, and cultural collaborations between the countries by Iran’s Tourism Minister, Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri, earlier this month.
Following a meeting with Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Nizomiddin Zohidi, Salehi-Amiri stated, “Developing tourism not only strengthens cultural connections but also contributes to trade growth and job creation.”
While air travel between the two cities will be visa-free for eligible citizens, travelers must still go through border control and meet entry requirements for Iran or Tajikistan. Travelers intending to exceed the visa-free limit of 30 days may need to apply for the relevant visa for the duration of their stay.
