Philippines Launches Visa-Free Travel for Indian Nationals Who Meet Eligibility Criteria
The Philippines is waiving the visa requirement for Indian nationals with a valid and existing visa or permanent residence permit to Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, the Schengen countries, the UK, or the US.
According to a statement released by the Philippines Embassy in New Delhi, the amendment to the “Philippine Immigration Act of 1940” was made after consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs to boost tourism in the Philippines as part of the country’s national efforts.
Eligible Indian citizens who want to enter the Philippines for tourism from any port of entry, including international airports, secondary international hubs (SIHs), and seaports, will be granted visa-free access for up to 14 days. They can extend their visit by an additional seven days, enabling them to stay for a maximum of 21 days.
Other requirements include having at least six months of passport validity from their date of entry and possessing a return or onward ticket to another country. They should also not have any derogatory record with the Bureau of Immigration.
The latest visa policy change comes after the Philippines rolled out the e-visa system for Indian nationals in October 2024. Indian citizens have been able to apply for an e-visa via the official e-visa portal for short-term travel, such as tourism, business, medical treatment, and taking part in meetings, conferences, and sports events.
The e-visa is issued for either single or multiple entries with a six-month or one-year validity and cannot be extended or converted to other visa types.
