Qatar Confirms Extension of GCC Resident Visit Visas to Two Months
Qatar has officially extended the validity of visit visas for residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries from one month to two months, with the added benefit of multiple-entry access.
The update was confirmed by Qatar Tourism in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Permanent Committee for Managing Visitor Entry.
The move comes as Qatar prepares to host the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup and several major regional events, including cultural festivals, concerts, and international exhibitions.
Currently, there are five visa types:
- Tourist Visa (A1)
- GCC Resident Visa (A2)
- Visa with Electronic Travel Authorization (A3)
- Accompanying GCC Citizen Visa (A4)
- Visa Waiver application for U.S. Citizens (F1)
The visa upgrade supports Qatar’s wider tourism goals. The move is not only meant to improve travel logistics but also to support long-term tourism growth.
These updates are part of a strategy to position Qatar as a prime location for international gatherings while increasing tourism’s economic contribution. Easier entry for Gulf residents strengthens Qatar’s image as an accessible and event-driven destination.
Qatar’s updated visa policy is expected to benefit not just sports fans but also regional travelers interested in exploring the country’s museums, markets, and entertainment venues. Officials hope the improvements will encourage longer stays and repeat visits.
With the new visa rules in place, Qatar aims to reinforce its standing as a welcoming and well-connected hub for regional and international events.
