Saudi Arabia and India agree on Hajj 2024 quota

The Government of India and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed a Bilateral Hajj Agreement for the year 2024 on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Finalized in Jeddah, this agreement secures a substantial quota for Indian pilgrims, further strengthening the cultural and spiritual ties between the two nations.

The agreement, finalized by Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, and Shri. V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, alongside H.E. Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia, sets a total quota of 1,75,025 Indian pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj season. Of these, 1,40,020 seats are allocated for pilgrims traveling through the Hajj Committee of India, prioritizing those embarking on their first Hajj pilgrimage. Additionally, 35,005 seats are earmarked for pilgrims choosing to travel through Hajj Group Operators.

This agreement is a testament to the collaborative spirit and mutual respect between India and Saudi Arabia. It not only facilitates a higher number of pilgrims to partake in the sacred journey but also highlights the digital strides made by the Indian government in simplifying and enhancing the Hajj pilgrimage experience.
