Tajikistan and Maldives Sign Visa Waiver Agreement
On November 26, 2024, in New York, Mr. Jonibek Hikmat, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations, and Mr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations, signed a visa waiver agreement between the countries.
The visa waiver agreement will enable eligible citizens of Tajikistan and Maldives to travel or transit through either country without applying for a visa if the duration of their stay is a maximum of 30 days. For longer durations, citizens will need to apply for the relevant visa for each country.
The signing ceremony was held to finalize the concept, with both parties agreeing to provide written notification once they have undertaken the necessary procedural changes to enable the waiver scheme. Once both parties have provided written notification, the waiver agreement will come into effect after 30 days.
