Trump Launches “Gold Card” Immigration Visas With $1m Contribution

U.S. President Donald Trump has officially launched a new immigration initiative called the “Trump Gold Card,” a visa program designed to attract wealthy foreign nationals and corporate sponsors. The initiative offers an expedited path to permanent residency and, ultimately, U.S. citizenship for qualified applicants.

Under the program, individuals can contribute $1 million to fast-track their visa application. Businesses seeking to sponsor foreign talent must contribute $2 million. A separate $15,000 processing fee to the Department of Homeland Security is also required in each case. Additional fees may apply.

The visa is awarded to those who demonstrate a “substantial benefit” to the United States. Successful applicants will receive lawful permanent resident status under the EB-1 or EB-2 visa categories after background checks and U.S. government approval. The process includes a formal application, a visa interview, and the timely submission of supporting documents.

Trump announced the program on social media, stating it offers a “direct path to Citizenship for all qualified and vetted people.” He described it as a way for American companies to retain top global talent.

The “Trump Gold Card” was first introduced earlier this year and is now active. According to the official website, it promises U.S. residency in “record time” for those who meet the requirements.

A premium version of the program, named the “Trump Platinum Card,” will also be available soon. It will be priced at $5 million and include special tax exemptions. Applicants who qualify will be permitted to stay in the United States for up to 270 days per year without being taxed on income earned outside the country. 

A $15,000 DHS fee also applies to this tier. Enrollment for the Platinum Card is not yet open, but foreign nationals may sign up for a waiting list.

In an interview on Thursday, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick described the Gold Card as a “much more powerful” alternative to the green card. He emphasized that the program is aimed at attracting individuals who are “economically capable of driving our economy.”

Once the application and processing fee are submitted, the timeline for approval is expected to take only a few weeks. Applicants must complete all DHS and State Department requirements before receiving permanent status.
