Uzbekistan and China sign mutual visa exemption agreement

The foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and China signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for citizens of both countries in Chengdu on December 1. This will allow citizens to travel visa-free to both countries for 30 days. Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov said on Telegram that the signing of the agreement marked “another step towards making more intense exchanges and facilitating trade and people-to-people ties.”
Chinese nationals have been able to enter Uzbekistan without a visa for 10 days since March 2021, while Uzbekistan citizens have required a visa to travel to China. The date when this new visa-free scheme will take effect has yet to be announced.
