UAE and Mongolia sign MoU for mutual visa exemption

In a significant stride towards strengthening diplomatic relations, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Mongolia have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for mutual visa exemption. This announcement was made by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official website, signaling both countries’ commitment to bolstering bilateral ties.

The MoU was officially signed by H.E. Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State for the UAE, and H.E. Battsetseg Batmunkh, the Mongolian Minister of Foreign Affairs. As per this memorandum, UAE nationals holding regular, diplomatic, special, or mission passports can travel to Mongolia without a visa for up to 30 days. Similarly, Mongolian passport holders, encompassing regular, diplomatic, or official passports, are also granted visa-free entry to the UAE, effective from December 28, 2023.

Mongolia, notable for being one of the largest landlocked countries globally, is located in East Asia, nestled between Russia and China. It is home to a population exceeding 3.3 million and is celebrated for its unique cultural legacy that traces back to the Mongol Empire, founded by Genghis Khan in the 13th century.

This mutually beneficial agreement is expected to simplify travel and enhance movement between the UAE and Mongolia. It is likely to bolster cooperative relations across various fields, including trade, economics, culture, and politics, thereby strengthening the bond between these two countries.
